What stays on your device

Your mood check-ins, the notes and lines you write, the cards you draw, Miso’s reflections and weekly reviews, and your settings are stored only on your iPhone. We have no server copy. Deleting the app deletes them.

How reflections are written

On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, reflections, follow-up answers and weekly reviews are written by Apple’s on-device model or by Apple Private Cloud Compute. Apple processes the request only to answer it and does not store it; we never see it.

On other iPhones, Miso asks first. If you agree, the text needed to answer is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI: the cards you drew, your mood check-in, what you wrote, and any follow-up question (for a weekly review, that week’s moods, cards and lines). It’s processed only to answer you, never stored, and never used to train models. You can turn this off anytime in the app’s Settings. If you say no, reflections are put together from card meanings on your phone.

To limit abuse, a random ID (not tied to you, your Apple ID, or your device’s advertising ID) is used to count how many cloud reflections were requested each day; the count is deleted after a day or two.

Daily reminder

The daily reminder is a local notification scheduled on your iPhone. No push server is involved, and it stays off until you turn it on. You can turn it off anytime in the app or in iPhone Settings › Notifications.

Anonymous usage stats

The app sends anonymous events (for example “reflection finished” or “paywall shown”) with a random ID, your app version, and your iOS version, so we know which parts work. These events never include your check-ins, notes, or reflections, are not linked to you, and are not used for tracking or ads. PostHog estimates your country from your IP address; the IP address itself is not stored. We use PostHog to process them.

Crash reports

If the app crashes, a crash report is sent to Sentry so we can fix the problem. It contains technical details such as your device model, iOS version, app version, and the code that failed. It doesn’t include your journal.

Purchases

Payments are handled by Apple. We don’t receive your name, email, or payment details. We use RevenueCat to check whether you have Pro (monthly, yearly, or lifetime) and to restore purchases; it receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history from Apple.

We don’t sell your data, show ads, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

This website

askmiso.vercel.app is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs. The site has no analytics or ad cookies. If you switch languages, a small “lang” cookie remembers your choice.

Children

Ask Miso is not directed at children under 13.
